Welcome from Jason Weiss, Head, School of Civil and Construction Engineering
Dedicated to advancing knowledge in the built environment, the Oregon State University School of Civil and Construction Engineering is devoted to giving students an outstanding engineering education. With a long tradition of providing students the education and resources they need to succeed, the school places a priority on investing in state-of-the-art research facilities and technology, recruiting and retaining world-class faculty and staff, and delivering a curriculum devoted to the fundamentals of engineering.
Civil engineering and construction engineering management plays an important role in the quality of life for everyone and our students, faculty and staff use a collaborative approach in order to make a global impact on the built environment. With research expenditures of over $8 million per year, our school is focused on finding innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. Whether focused on research to develop buildings and transportation infrastructure to survive natural hazards, providing better systems to deliver clean drinking water, or improving construction areas in order to make them safer for all, we are devoted to improving the world in which we live.
With research and teaching focused on nine key areas in civil engineering and construction engineering management, our undergraduate and graduate students leave OSU with the skills necessary to provide a positive impact to our society. As global needs continue to change and progress, the need for civil engineers and construction engineering managers will only continue to grow. Earning a degree in civil engineering or construction engineering management from OSU will enable graduates to positively influence our built environment.
We encourage all students interested in engineering to learn more about the school and look forward to their contributions to Beaver Nation.
