Applications are open now for URSA Engage winter-spring 2019. URSA Engage is designed to establish mentoring relationships for undergraduates early in their academic programs at Oregon State. The goal is to provide first and second year students, and transfer students in their first year at OSU, opportunities to pursue research or a creative activity under the guidance of an OSU mentor. Selected students will receive a $750 award and their faculty mentors will receive $250 for project-related costs. The program is available to undergraduates and mentors at all OSU campuses and across all academic disciplines. Projects that integrate interdisciplinary work are encouraged. Learn more and apply. The NOAA Office of Education Attention invites second-year undergraduates, mentors, and advisors to apply for two scholarship opportunities. The scholarships award students with academic assistance ($9,500 per year in junior and senior year) and a 10-week, full-time paid summer internship at any NOAA facility nationwide, with travel expenses included. Students accepted into the EPP/MSI scholarship will be awarded two 10-week, full-time paid summer internships. The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at NC State University is proud to announce the 2019 Research Internship Summer Experience (RISE) program. RISE is open to current undergraduate students in the upper classes as well as master's students who are interested in doctoral studies. RCI, Inc., an international association of professional consultants, architects, and engineers who specialize in the building envelope arena, is pleased to announce that the RCI Foundation will fund up to 25 full-time undergraduate college students to attend the RCI 34rd International Convention and Trade Show. The convention will be held in Orlando, Florida, on March 14-19, 2019. Through this funding, convention registration and travel expenses are covered for students awarded the convention sponsorship, as well as a one-year student RCI membership. Learn more and apply. Oregon State’s new online scholarship search and application system, OSU ScholarDollars, is now accepting applications for more than $50 million in 2019-20 scholarship funds. Newly-admitted and continuing OSU students may use ScholarDollars to submit one application to be considered automatically for over 1,500 campus-based scholarship opportunities.  Students must have been admitted to OSU and have an active ONID account to be able to log into the system and submit an application. Students are encouraged to submit their ScholarDollars applications by Feb. 1, 2019 to maximize the number of scholarships for which they will be considered. Most scholarships have a deadline on or after Feb. 15, 2019, but deadlines for specific opportunities may vary. Learn more or contact the OSU Scholarship Office for more information. 

Current OSU engineering students are encouraged to complete the online College of Engineering scholarship application, which is available annually, from Nov. 15 until Feb. 15 at 11:59 p.m. Applications must be completed during this time frame. Applications are not accepted at any other time. Your application will be reviewed by both the College and your specific program to see if you are eligible for scholarship funds within the College for the following academic year. Apply. Maryland Sea Grant offers fifteen undergraduates the opportunity to conduct marine research on the Chesapeake Bay. During this 12-week program, each student will work with science mentors on an individual research project. The 12-week program runs May 19 to August 11 and offers a $6,000 stipend plus housing and travel support to and from host institution. It is funded by the National Science Foundation and thus limited to US citizens or permanent residents. Learn more and apply. Application deadline: February 15. 

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is excited to announce that INL Graduate Fellowship postings are now open. This year there are two INL Graduate Fellowship postings. The first is specific to National and Homeland Security research, the second is associated with other INL mission areas. The INL Graduate Fellowship program is designed to identify exceptional talent in research areas aligned with INL's strategic agenda to enable the current and future mission of the INL. The program, a collaboration between INL and universities, provides mentoring and financial support for outstanding students who plan to enroll in graduate degree programs. Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to applicants looking to pursue careers in construction and construction-related fields. The fund also offers a $2,500 Veteran Scholarship—sponsored by the Ashback Family—for students who are currently serving or have served in any branch of the US Military. Learn more and apply . Forest to Frame: Sustainable Manufacturing + Design in Alpine Europe. Visit Slovenia and northern Italy to explore the value chain of wooden buildings from forest through manufacturing, design, and construction. The Oregon and Clinical Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) is accepting applications from pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees for a TL1 mentored career development award funded by NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS).  Graduate or professional students and postdocs  at OHSU, Portland State University, University of Oregon and Oregon State University are eligible to apply. Award Details: The TL1, which is similar to an NRSA T32, supports training and career development in clinical and translational research for one year with an opportunity to extend up to 3 years for training for PhD graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.  All research proposed for this program must involve either clinical or translational research defined as involving human subjects or populations, or research with application to human health.
