Well done! The OSU ITE Student Chapter took second place at the 2017 Western District Traffic Bowl, held during the Western District ITE Annual Meeting, June 18-21 in San Diego, California. Team members included Joe Claveria, Kayla Fleskes, Travis Larson, and Ellie Simpson.

EERI/FEMA 2017/2018 Graduate Fellowships in Earthquake Hazard Reduction. EERI is pleased to announce the availability of two graduate fellowships for the 2017-2018 academic year to support two full-time students in a discipline contributing to the science and practice of earthquake hazard mitigation. The one-year fellowships, underwritten with funds provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, are designed to foster the participation of capable individuals in working toward goals and activities of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program. Oregon’s first full-scale straw bale commercial building, the Mahonia, is a mixed-use new building that will feature an unusual hybrid system of wood framing and straw bale. Students are invited to participate in a hands-on workshop that will allow to participants to experience all aspects of the process from the bale raising to the earth plaster finishing. The three-day workshop will feature additional education options on practical applications of salvage materials and solar in commercial construction. Location: 120 Shelton McMurphey Boulevard, Eugene, Oregon. Dates: Early to mid September (to be determined), over a weekend. Cost: Free. The Providence School Outreach Fall 2017 internships are now open for applications. Providence offers 50 paid internships per year for undergraduate college seniors. The internship is 10-12 weeks long with a maximum of 240 hours (maximum hours not guaranteed), and runs from September 11-December 15. Learn more and apply

ODOT's Region 1 Traffic Unit is recruiting for a traffic investigator – civil engineering specialist 1. This position aids in providing a safe, efficient operation of the state highway system within Region 1 through investigation, research, consultation with other public agencies and officials, and contact with the public. The traffic investigator conducts signing investigations, provides field data for pedestrian crossing investigation, and provides detailed written reports of the investigations.
