Dr. Layton's Interests include transportation systems analysis; transportation facility design; traffic operations and control; highway safety; transportation energy and economics; and environmental impact of transportation.

Dr. Layton's teaching interests are transportation facility design, traffic operations & control, transportation systems analysis, civil engineering systems, and workshops on;

  • highway capacity analysis
  • school zones and pedestrian facility design
  • traffic engineering fundamentals
  • geometric design
  • site circulation planning and design
Through a generous grant from ODOT's Traffic Safety Division, OSU offers 5-6 traffic safety related short courses each year.
