Geodesy Basics for Surveying in Oregon - Day 1, Morning
This morning session covers the development of geodesy including Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation Gravity and Equipotential Surfaces, the Geoid, Vertical Datums, Precession and Nutation, and Polar Motion. The NAD 83 3-dimensional datum and the NSPS 2007 adjustment will be discussed in detail along with the International Terrestrial Reference Frames (ITRF). Continental drift in the Pacific Northwest will be addressed in the NGS, "Horizontal time Dependent Positioning" software.
Higher Order Surveying in Oregon - Day 1, Afternoon
The afternoon session discusses static and real-time kinematic GPS control surveying. Mission planning, standards and specifications, order of accuracy, project planning and network design will be lightly covered. Also addressed are the basics of RTK base and rover communications, orthometric heights, OPUS, and the potential value of the second civil signal now on all Block 11R satellites.
Horizontal Time-Dependent Positioning - Day 2, Morning
The NGS HTDP software is used to predict the velocities and displacement associated with horizontal crustal motion, to update positional coordinates from one date to another, to update the values of survey observations from one date to another, and to transform 3-dimensional positional coordinates. Positional coordinates should be associated with a validity date.
OPUS and OPUS-RS - Day 2, Afternoon
This workshop will cover how to use OPUS and OPUS-RS utilities, how to understand the reported statistics and output, and to gain awareness of future plans to enhance OPUS.
