OSU Geomatics Engineering

“Geomatics is the discipline of gathering, storing, processing, and delivering of geographic information, or spatially referenced information."

The practice of land surveying requires registration as a professional land surveyor. Such registration is obtained by completing eight years of acceptable land surveying experience and passing two sets of 8-hour exams. With selection of the appropriate surveying courses, the ABET-accredited B.S. degree in civil engineering provides four years of professional land surveying experience. Civil Engineering graduate students may pursue a minor in geomatics as well as registration as a professional land surveyor.
