Interests and Research:
Professor Vinson's interests include geotechnical and cold regions engineering, and carbon cycling in the terrestrial environment . Current projects involve spatial based emergency response during earthquakes, probabilistic analysis of geotechnical and cold regions engineering problems, low temperature cracking of asphalt pavements, frost heave prediction, and terrestrial carbon cycling and sequestration potential in the former Soviet Union.
