Interests and Research:

Dr. Merrick Haller has been a faculty member in the Coastal & Ocean Engineering program at OSU since 2001. His teaching interests include hydraulics, wave mechanics, coastal engineering, and graduate writing. He served as Coordinator for the Coastal & Ocean program from 2003-2010 and as Associate Head of the School of Civil and Construction Engineering from 2009-2011. Before coming to OSU he spent two years in a research position in the remote sensing industry. Much of his present research interest is related to the remote sensing of wave transformation processes, especially those processes that lead to hazardous wave conditions, wave breaking, and rip currents. Other efforts are related to interaction processes between waves and wave energy converters and quantifying the physical effects of wave energy arrays. His research has been funded by the Office of Naval Research, DOE, The National Science Foundation, NOAA, Sea Grant, and the USACE.
