The College of Business has changed how prerequisites for classes are enforced – effective immediately. Please read this message now so you don’t have any surprises at registration (click here).
TransNow Conference (at UO) on November 13, Friday
(Depart at 6:30 am - Arriving back at 6 pm)
This is a transportation conference run by students for students. Students from throughout the PNW will be present. Students will have a chance to hear from their peers on what research projects they are working on while also networking with students from other schools. OSU ITE is looking for students (undergrad and grad) interested in attending the field trip. Cost: Free! If interested, please email taniguck@onid.orst.edu no later than Tuesday, October 27.
Traffic Bowl (McMenamins Edgefield) on November 19, Thursday
(Depart OSU 2:30 pm - Arrive back at 10:30 pm)
OSU ITE will compete in the annual event in which we challenge other schools in a traffic jeopardy game. Come cheer on your peers while enjoying a free dinner. You will also have the opportunity to network with transportation professionals and students from other schools in the Pacific Northwest. Cost: Free! Interested in attending? EERI SEISMIC DESIGN COMPETITION - EERI Student Leadership Council (SLC) announces that the Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition (SDC) rules are updated and posted online. (Registration form and updated rules here.) Team registration forms must be submitted via email to seismic.design.competition@gmail.com by November 20, 2009. This year's competition is February 3-6, 2010 in San Francisco during the EERI annual meeting. EERI will provide partial financial support for participating teams, but the exact amount of support will not be known until the number of teams is finalized. Interested students should contact Prof. Thomas.Miller@oregonstate.edu.

Miller Shifts Over to the Dark Side (Official Sports Reports)
After playing two seasons at tight end, CEM Senior Gabe Miller has gone over to the ‘Dark Side.' Miller is not lining up alongside Darth Vader or in front of a storm trooper linebacking core, but he is now sporting a black shirt at practice — as a defensive end.

WINTER PRO-SCHOOL APPLICATION is now available and due before Nov. 2 deadline, at https://secure.engr.oregonstate.edu/proapp/.
Winter term PINs are now available. If your Spring term GPA was 2.5 or higher, you may pick up your audit sheet and PIN from Julie in Owen 220. If your GPA was below 2.5, or you were not enrolled at OSU Spring term, you must see an advisor to receive your PIN. Sandy and Theresa will take appointments for scheduling advising through the online scheduling at, https://secure.engr.oregonstate.edu/auth/index.php?service=cce_advising.
Juniors: Friday October 23- Tuesday October 27
Sophomores: Wednesday October 28 – Friday October 30

OCT 27, Tues – AGC Student Chapter Meeting with General Construction (GC), 212 Kearney Hall, 6:00 pm. Food and sodas provided. Must show your AGC membership card at the meeting. You may purchase a 2009-10 membership at the door--$10.00 through 10/31/09; $15.00, beginning 11/1/09. General Construction is a marine contractor headquartered in Poulsbo, WA. OCT 29, Tues – AGC Student Chapter Meeting with Slayden Construction Group, 102 Owen Hall, 6:00 pm. Food and sodas provided. Must show your AGC membership card at the door. Slayden Construction performs a diverse range of construction projects including civil and marine work, water reservoirs, water and wastewater treatment plants, transportation, new and modernization of public works, commercial buildings and multi-family housing. OCT 28, Wed – General Construction, 220 Owen Hall (Conference Room 204). They are seeking CEM and CE students for both full-time and internship positions. To schedule an interview appointment, you must attend the AGC Speaker Meeting on Tuesday, 10/27 (see above). Interview sign-up sheets will be available at the Speaker Meeting.
OCT 28, Wed – Turner Construction is interviewing CEM and CE students for full-time and internship positions in 224 Owen Hall. Their interview schedule is full. You may sign-up on a back-up interview list with Jan Strombeck in 220 Owen for possible future interview appointments with Turner. Turner’s website is www.turnerconstruction.com.
