OCT 12, Mon - Corvallis Science Pub presentation, “The Cheese Stands Alone: The Science behind Oregon’s Acclaimed Artisan Cheeses,” presented by Lisbeth Goddik. Old World Deli, 341 SW 2nd St, 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
OCT 13 or 14 - Literature Review Workshop (for grad students). How to get started, how to keep track of sources, searches and new research, and how to use library resources more effectively.More info here. . .
OCT 13, Tue - The Austin Entrepreneurship Program presents, “Building Your Business Plan Series.” 6 to 7:30 p.m., Bill Witt of Witt Consulting will speak on “An Introduction to Entrepreneurship,” in Kelley Engineering Center 1003. OCT 14, Wed – CCE Engineering Awareness. Presentations to COE freshmen at 6pm and 7pm, 102 Owen Hall. Student groups are encouraged to participate in Owen Atrium, highlighting their chapter socials, outreach, and competitions.
OCT 15, Thur – Applying to Graduate School Panel. Offered by Career Services, a great opportunity for students to learn more about the application process, as well as the factors they should consider when deciding to attend graduate or professional school. Open to all majors and interest areas. STAG 323, 4:30pm – 5:30pm
OCT 15, Thurs - The Community Alliance for Diversity and International Students of OSU (ISOSU) are sponsoring the first “Passport to Corvallis.” This special event is designed to introduce the international students and their families to resources available to them in Corvallis. First United Methodist Church, 5:30–7:30 pm.

Kearney earns 'gold' rating for green energy (Gazette-Times) (KEZI) (Daily Journal of Commerce)
Kearney Hall has received gold certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program of the U.S. Green Building Council, the second major facility at the university to achieve the recognition for environmentally sensitive design and construction.

OCT 12, Mon – AGC offers tours of the new Energy Center (CoGen) located at 35th/Jefferson. Two tours on Monday, at 2pm and 3pm. Sign-up sheets are in Jan Strombeck's office at Owen 220. Each time is limited to the first ten (10) people who sign up. All are welcome.
OCT 13, Tue – AGC Speaker Meeting. Mr. John Meagher(CEM ’78), Traylor Bros. Inc./Traylor Pacific Division, Irvine, CA, Major Structural Steel Bridge Erection, 112 Kearney Hall, 6:00 pm. Food and soft drinks provided. You must be a member of the AGC Student Chapter; you may join at the meeting. Annual membership is $10 before October 31; $15 after October 31.
OCT 14, Wed - ACSM Speaker Meeting. Mike Olsen, Assistant Professor in Geomatics at OSU will speak on LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging). LiDAR is a scanning process and is used to produce high quality maps. We will also discuss a service project with David Evans and Associates Inc. 110 Owen Hall, 5:30 pm. Food and drinks provided.
