Can architecture protect against a tsunami? (KATU)

Japan has about a dozen such buildings that have been around 15 to 20 years, said Harry Yeh, the Edwards professor of coastal and ocean engineering at Oregon State University. But in other areas, the idea has not been popular, largely because tsunamis do not occur that often.

Oregon State researchers win science awards (KGW)

OSU sets a record for itself with NSF awards going to Michael Scott and four other COE researchers. (See also the Oregonian and the East Oregonian)

Tsunami Protection Plan Going Up (KEZI)

Dan Cox and Harry Yeh say people who physically can't make it away from the coast in time might find refuge in tsunami built safety structures right on the coast.
