CONGRATULATIONS to our National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) student team, who placed second in the first annual Green Energy Challenge at the NECA National Convention in Seattle on 9/12/09! Our OSU team was selected as one of three finalist teams to present their project/proposal against teams from the University of Washington and Penn State. The team also created a 3’ x 4’ poster summarizing the project which was displayed on the trade show floor throughout the convention. A $1,000 award will be made to CCE, and as finalists, team members had their way paid to the competition. Team members are CEM seniors (l-to-r) Tom Bergmann, Craig Blair, Hayley Brown, Jesse Carter and Tony Spratling.

UNDERGRAD RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY - Seeking a junior or senior who is interested in green building materials. You will help evaluate and rank new technologies. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0; an emphasis in structures is desired. This position will pay hourly: 10 hours a week for the remainder of the academic year. PEER MENTORS FOR STATICS - Seeking volunteers to help static students with problem-solving. This is a great opportunity to help others while gaining some resume-building experience. You'll work with students during lectures and then in additional group tutoring sessions. If you got a B or better in statics and are available Wednesdays 9-10, email Dr. Rodriguez-Nikl at rodrigto@engr.orst.edu for more information.

OSU has announced its NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship nominees. The NCAA awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships annually, 87 for men and 87 for women. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. Congratulations to our school nominees: Taylor Kavanaugh, Football (construction engineering management) and Tyler Simpson, Men’s Golf (construction engineering management).

Due to CONNECT week activities, advisors are available for drop in appointments only on Friday, September 25th.
Final decisions on Professional School admission were mailed out this past week (email and snail mail). If you have not received your notification please contact Sandy Jameson at sandy.jameson@oregonstate.edu.
CEM Pro admits will need to register for CEM 381 if they are not in CEM 442. Please do not register for both.
