MAY 13, Wednesday – The IE3 Global Internships Program at Oregon State University is offering a new internship in conjunction with the Portland-based non-profit Green Empowerment in Nicaragua for students of engineering, forestry and public health fields. U.S. Postal Service approved new prices for mailing services, including a 2-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail stamp to $.44. The new prices go into effect today.
PLSO STUDENT APPRECIATION NIGHT. Students interested in geomatics, surveying and mapping are invited to attend this dinner meeting (5/18/09) as a paid guest of the Willamette Branch of the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon. Mr. Jim Griffis, PLS and Sr Vice President of David Evans & Associates, Inc. is our presenter to discuss, “Highway Surface Scanning on the Fly.” Students must pre-register before May 12, 2009 to attend this free dinner event. Everyday Champion - Men’s Rowing : Sam Schwartz (OSUbeavers.com)
Sam is a member of the No. 16 ranked Beavers, a team that is preparing for the Pac-10 Championships May 17 and hopeful participation in next month’s Intercollegiate Rowing Association national championships.
OSU Panhellenic Council honored twice
Alison Tanaka, a senior in civil engineering, was the previous council president and oversaw many of the accomplishments that the council is being recognized for.

A robotic arm, DNA video game and a waste-reducing operating room recycling system are a few of the innovative projects that will be on display next week during Oregon State University’s 10th annual engineering expo.

CEM Tyler Brown joins 2,600 Oregon soldiers serving in Iraq for the next 10 months, beginning in July. In the final formal ceremonies held around the state last weekend, Gov. Ted Kulongoski mobilized the 2-162 for Iraq.

We learned concrete research involves a lot of international travel, that Jason hates alarm clocks and other things that make ticking noises, that his favorite word is “efficacy,” and that he might give up this career if he could be a commercial airline pilot. (…what?..., Ed.)
