FEB 23, Monday – Transportation Faculty Candidate presentation by Dr. John Milton, Director of Enterprise Risk Management at Washington State DOT, 205 Kearney Hall, 10am.
FEB 23, Monday – Dr. Donald Pettit, NASA Astronaut “The Science of Opportunity”. The presentation is a collection of the scientific experiments performed by Don Pettit during his time on space station. The unique opportunity is provided by the zero-gravity environment, which causes profound changes to many of the routine phenomena (such as drinking coffee from a cup) that occur in earth’s gravitational field. College of Engineering Seminar, Open Presentation to OSU Community. 112 Kearney Hall, 12pm. Reception follows in Kearney Atrium with cake and refreshments, sponsored by CBEE Student Chapter.

OSU FOOD DRIVE - The estimated number of individuals served by Linn-Benton Food Share emergency food agencies is 42,000. They are our neighbors - seniors on fixed incomes, parents trying to provide for their families on minimum wage, unemployed persons, or families hit with high medical bills and no health insurance. Over 44% of Linn-Benton Food Share emergency food services are provided to children under the age of 18. Please think about giving. Direct deposit food drive forms due by March 2 (pdf).
CONSTRUCTION VOLUNTEERING in GUATEMALA – Apply by Feb. 28. Are you interested in spending your spring break as a construction volunteer in Guatemala? Join the Oregon State student group and be a part of this life-changing experience! This team will be involved in various construction projects associated with the betterment of underdeveloped Guatemalan communities. Log onto Facebook and search for the Oregon State group, titled “Construction Volunteering in Guatemala,” and contact Scott Mathewson at mathesco12@hotmail.com for more information. This is a great opportunity to learn about a unique and interesting culture, travel to a remote destination, and add a unique element to your construction industry resume.

ADVISING
-------------------- Spring term registration begins Sunday, Feb. 22. Academic advising is now available for spring term. Please go to the online advising sign up to make an appointment to see either Sandy or Theresa.
All students with a Fall term GPA below a 2.5 must see an advisor for Spring term advising and to get their PIN. If you wish to see your faculty advisor they will be available the 18th, 19th, or 20th of this month otherwise please make an appointment to meet with Sandy or Theresa.
All students with a Fall term GPA above a 2.5 can pick up their Advising and Audit sheet with PIN from Julie in the Student Services Office (220 Owen). If you wish to still see your faculty advisor you will need to make an appointment to see them by using the online advising sign up, here.

FEB 25, Wednesday – ASCE Speaker Meeting. Steve Townsen from City of Portland will be presenting on the topic, "What employers are seeking in future employees/interns." Food and drinks provided. 112 Kearny Hall, 6pm.
FEB 26, Thursday - ASCE Speaker Meeting. Power Engineers will be presenting on past project "Ebey Slough 230 kV Transmission." Food and drinks provided. 112 Kearny Hall, 6pm.
FEB 26, Thursday -, AGC Speaker Meeting, “Resume Writing and Communication”. JKL Construction Services, Oakland, CA is a commercial building firm started in June 2003, concentrating within the industry in healthcare construction. They have contractual relationships with highly technical companies such as Intel, Genentech and Lockheed Martin. Dinner and soft drinks provided. 212 Kearney Hall, 6 pm. Wednesday, 2/25, Anning Johnson Company, Portland office, http://www.anningjohnson.com/, one of the largest specialty drywall contractors in the US, offers a wide range of contracting operations to general contractors, owners and developers with an emphasis on drywall systems, acoustical ceilings, framing, carpentry, metal deck, EIFS, lath and plaster, insulating concrete roof decks, spray fire-proofing, painting and decorating. Thursday, 2/26, Monterey Mechanical, Oakland and Martinez, CA, http://www.montmech.com/, is a mid-sized industrial contractor and metal fabricator. Current annual revenues are approximately $60 million with approximately 65% Engineering Construction, 15% Metal Fabrication and 20% Industrial Maintenance. Areas of specialty are: general engineering construction; process piping; sheet metal fabrication; plumbing; heating, ventilation and air-conditioning; machinery erection; industrial maintenance; and air pollution (NOx) control.
