DEC. 1, Monday –Students are invited to come to the Stress-Free Zone for some much-needed and well-deserved relaxation. Sponsored by Student Health Services' Health Promotion Department, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the MU Student Lounge (across from Bites). Enjoy free tea and cookies and free 10-minute chair massages! Prepare for finals week by taking care of yourself - Live well. Learn well. Be well.

DEC. 1, Monday - "Small Boat Wake Analysis on Lake Oswego, Oregon" presented by Grady Donathan for the degree of Masters of Science in Civil Engineering with a disciplinary focus in Coastal and Ocean Engineering. 103 Owen Hall, 8:00 am. Advisor: Prof. Mick Haller.

DEC. 3, Wednesday – “Large-Scale Laboratory Observations of Wave Forces on a Highway Bridge Superstructure” thesis defense, presented by Chris Bradner for the degree of Masters of Ocean Engineering. 193 Burt Hall, 10:00 am. Advisor: Prof. Dan Cox.

FE Exam – deadline to apply for the spring exam is December 1, 2008 – TODAY.

MENTORS NEEDED – looking for undergraduate students who have completed ENGR 211 Statics to assist with a new winter term statics peer mentoring program. Mentors will assist ENGR 211 students in lecture (MW 1500-1550) and be available for group tutoring sessions. Mentors should be reliable, have good communication skills, enjoy working with others, and have a good understanding of engineering mechanics concepts. Time commitment is 1-2 hrs per week. Compensation: This is a volunteer program; students assisting regularly in lecture section and tutoring sessions will receive a $150 gift certificate at the end of the term in appreciation of service. FE REVIEW COURSE - The IIE-sponsored Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Review course provides students with a review of the basic engineering principles that are covered on the FE exam. Sessions will run on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (attend whichever day works best for you), 7­9 pm, for 8 weeks starting on January 6 or 7. Register for the FE review course by Friday 12/5 and pay only $80. (If you wait to register at the first class, you’ll pay $100.) To register, come to the MIME Library (Covell 117) anytime this week (12/1–12/5) between 8:30 am and 4 pm. Payment is by cash, check or you can register online and pay with PayPal.
