NOV. 17, Monday - GRAD SCHOOL FORUM – Thinking about graduate school? An evening of short presentations from each CCE discipline will be presented for those considering graduate school. A panel of current grad students, professionals and faculty will be on hand to answer your questions. Sponsored by Chi Epsilon.

NOV. 18, Tuesday - American Universities International Programs info session for teaching faculty and academic advisors. As part of the collaboration with AUIP, OSU provides faculty mentors who guide the participants on the programs. We will be looking for faculty mentors for the 2009 Fiji and Australia summer programs. Snell Hall, Room 448, 12 noon – 1:30 pm. NOV. 19, Wednesday - Talking About Teaching faculty and GTA series. Formative Assessment, How can we get and provide feedback on student learning, real time? Formative assessment helps us understand what our students need to know, and helps our students assess their own progress. What formative assessment strategies do you use? Our local Tau Beta Pi chapter (the nation’s largest engineering honor society which also encompasses every engineering discipline) is hosting an Engineering Futures workshop to improve team building and management skills. The session will start at 10 am on Saturday, November 22 in 151 Weniger Hall.
Tau Beta Pi’s national committee produces these award-winning workshops around the nation, and we are excited to have one on our campus. Companies host these renowned workshops, and you have an excellent opportunity as a student to enhance your skills at no cost to you. NOV. 18, Tuesday – ITE Speaker Meeting, DKS Associates, ranked "Best company to work for" among 50 US CE firms by CE News, is presenting on their projects and internship opportunities for students, 101 Owen Hall, 6:00 pm. Just prior to the speaker meeting, from 2:00 to 5:00pm, DKS representatives will interview CE students interested in internships with them next year. Please contact Raul Avelar if you'd like to schedule an interview with DKS (avelarr@engr.orst.edu, or drop by Owen 337).
NOV. 18, Tuesday - ACSM Speaker Meeting. Greg Crites, David Evans and Associates, Inc., will present on surveying and project management for long line transmission lines. Students are invited to bring their resumes. 110 Owen Hall, 4:00 pm.
NOV. 18, Tuesday - AGC Speaker Meeting, James W. Fowler General Contractor (Dallas, OR) 6:00 pm, 103 Owen Hall. Topic: Nacimiento Intake Unit: A Project. Food and soft drinks will be available. J.W. Fowler works through the US and does projects in underground, industrial, transportation, and trenchless technology.
NOV. 19, Wednesday - AGC Speaker Meeting, JE Dunn Northwest (Portland, Seattle, Phoenix), 6:00 pm, 106 Owen Hall. Topic: Building Informational Models (BIM 3D Modeling). Food and soft drinks will be available. JE Dunn Northwest provides general contracting, construction management and design-build services for both public and private clients in Oregon, Washington, and Arizona, as well as Alaska, Nevada, New Mexico, Northern California and Hawaii.
NOV. 20, Thursday, - AGC Speaker Meeting, Andersen Construction Company (Portland), 6:00 pm, 106 Owen Hall. Topic: OSU Energy Center Overview. Food and soft drinks will be available. Andersen Construction has been building in the Western United States since 1950. Andersen's portfolio includes high tech, commercial, retail, cultural, education, government, health care, hospitality, urban housing, industrial and manufacturing, parking structures and the performance of tenant improvements, seismic upgrades and remediation. Their services include general contracting, development and preconstruction, estimating, design-build, safety, startup and commissioning and sustainability.
