SEPT 18, Thursday – University Day, LaSells Stewart Center, 9:00-12:00. Congratulations to Kate Hunter-Zaworksi, who will receive the OSU Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award.
SEPT 19, Friday - Traffic Safety Liability & Risk Protection Workshop, LaSells Stewart Center. Pre-registration required.

THINKING ABOUT GRADUATE SCHOOL? The deadline to apply for the October GRE test is 9-19-08. Details here. (pdh)
CONGRATULATIONS to Stacy Frost (BSCE ‘01), past president of ASCE Oregon Section, who was nominated ASCE’s Region 8 Governor in August. This is a three-year term and involves representing the sections with Region 8 (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Nevada, Alaska and Hawaii). Recently announced recipients of Oregon Section Annual Awards include;
- Young Engineer of the Year – Javier Moncada (BSCE ‘04; MEng ‘07) works with Berger /ABAM Engineers in Portland as a junior design engineer.
- Young Government Engineer of the Year – Kurt Krueger (BSCE ‘95), is a Senior Engineer in the Office of Transportation, City of Portland where he is currently serving as Development Review Manager.
APPERSON to KEARNEY UPDATE – although the webcam is no longer live, work continues at a feverish pitch. Fabric and wall color samples are on the conference table in 220 Owen. Some recent photos are posted here, http://cce.oregonstate.edu/gallery/albums.php
Benton Place will be temporarily shutdown to all vehicle traffic on September 16, 2008 due to conditions associated with the Annual Load & Service Test on building generators. 6:00 am – 10:00 am.
