FEBRUARY 13, Wednesday - Career Makeover Wardrobe Event Professional Clothing SALE, 10:00 am-3:00 pm, MU Ballroom. Suits $15, Singles $5. What to Wear/What NOT to Wear Presentation at 11:00 am, MU Ballroom. Get ready for the winter term career fairs to land that summer internship or job! OPEN to all, first come, first served.

FEBRUARY 13-16 – Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Estimating Competition in Reno, NV. CEM is sending six teams totaling 42 students. The teams prepared for the competition throughout fall term, working with many industry partners and completing a final competition dry run in January, simulating the actual competition. Good Luck Beavers!

FEBRUARY 14-15 - Oregon Real-Time GPS & US Public Land Survey workshop, 110 Owen Hall. Pre-registration required.
 
FEBRUARY 15, Friday – Oregon Stater Awards Reception. Faculty, staff and students are all invited to meet and celebrate our Civil and Construction Engineering alumni who are receiving 2008 COE Oregon Stater Awards, in the Owen Hall Atrium at 4:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

FRIEND, COLLEAGUE, AND MENTOR, Prof. John Peterson passed away last week in his Corvallis home. Dr. Peterson taught structural engineering in Apperson Hall for 33 years. John’s impromptu singing and cheerful attitude have left fond memories for us all.

PLEASE WELCOME Ida van Schalkwyk who joins us as an Assistant Professor (Senior Research) in the Transportation Group. She starts February 15, and is coming from sunny Arizona.

Seniors interested in pursuing advanced degrees at OSU are invited to attend our Graduate Open House on February 29. Please register online before February 15, or see Kathy Westberg in 205 Owen Hall.

ADVISING

SPRING TERM ADVISING is February 13-15. You will receive an email later this week with your Advisor name and location. If your Fall term GPA was below a 2.5 you are required to meet with your advisor. If your Fall term GPA was a 2.5 or higher, you can pick up your audit and advising sheet with PIN from 220 Owen.

FEBRUARY 11, Monday – ACSM Speaker Meeting, 5:00 pm, 110 Owen Hall. Ray Wilson, Benton County surveyor, "The Functions of the County Surveyor.” Food and beverages provided.

FEBRUARY 13, Wednesday – ITE Speaker Meeting, 5:00 pm, 101 Owen Hall. Guest speakers from Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB). Food provided.

  • Friday, February 8 - K & E Excavating, Inc. will interview CEM students for full-time and internship positions.
