JANUARY 25 - Business Career Symposium Program (College of Business), 10:30–2:30, MU Second Floor. Program details here.

JANUARY 24, Thursday - Nonprofit Career Day. Keynote speaker Meg Busse (Idealist.org) discusses career paths and tips for the nonprofit sector. Women’s Center, 12:30–2:00, Lunch will be served. Great for students interested in careers for the common good, international NGO’s, or in public agencies. Nonprofit Opportunities Expo & Workshops, MU Ballroom, 2-5 pm, The Nuts and Bolts of Nonprofit Careers & Legislative Internships in DC and Salem, with over 20 participating vendors.

JANUARY 30, Wednesday - study abroad mini-fair to highlighting summer, fall, and year-long programs. MU Student Lounge (across from Bites Convenience Store) 10:00-2:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

JAMES PLASKER, BSCE 1971 and MSCE 1973, currently serving as one of two Representatives to ABET Board’s Executive Committee, recalls the benefits ABET made during his college years. More. . . Jim was inducted into COE’s Academy of Distinguished Engineers at the Oregon Stater Awards in 1998.

ASCE is looking for students who are interested in writing a technical paper related to the topic, "Ethical Issues Surrounding Infrastructure Privatization” for entry into this year’s regional competition. A five-minute presentation must also accompany each essay.  Interested students may contact ASCE Advisor, Dr. Tom Miller (Thomas.miller@oregonstate.edu) or ASCE President, Kyle Taniguchi (taniguck@onid.orst.edu).

IT’S TIME to pull out those dusty old basketball shoes, pump up that forgotten basketball, and start practicing for the Annual CE vs. CEM Basketball Game. The game will be played near the end of this term. Faculty and staff are invited to play for their respective majors. Further announcements on the date and location will come as the end of the term approaches. If you have any questions please contact Grant Lappi (lappig@onid.orst.edu).

The ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER offers study support. Get tips for test taking, avoiding procrastination, make a study plan. New this term - Tuesday is Study Night, 102 Waldo Hall, 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Free popcorn, computer lab and classroom space, Academic coaching available. Call 737-2272 for an appointment.

January 23, Wednesday - AGC Speaker Meeting, 6:00 pm, 106 Owen. Turner Construction Co., Portland, OR, will present. Dinner and sodas provided.

January 23, Wednesday - ASCE Service Project Meeting, 103 Owen Hall, 6:00 –7:00 pm. Get involved with your ASCE student chapter! Be a part of the decision-making process in selecting a project and forming a team. Projects include a land surveying project, creek bridge design project, and wheelchair ramp design project, among others. Free food and drinks.

January 24, Thursday - AGC Speaker Meeting, 6:00 pm, 106 Owen. PCL Construction, Seattle, WA, will present. PCL Construction is interested in talking with both CEM and CE students. Dinner and sodas provided.S

  • Thursday, January 24 2008, Turner Construction will interview CEM and CE students for internships only. 
  • Thursday and Friday, January 24-25, 2008, PCL Construction will interview CEM & CE students for full-time and internship positions.
