ANNOUNCEMENTS
--------------------

FE REVIEW CLASS – a review of the basic engineering principles that are covered on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. The course is offered for eight weeks of winter term on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 7 to 9pm. The same material is covered on both nights, so you only need to attend once a week, whichever night works best for you. Registration ($75) begins during Dead Week. (The deadline to apply for the April 2008 FE exam through OSBEELS is on December 1, 2007.) [Applications are now due December 1, 2007 for the April 2008 examination rather than January 15th, as was the case in the past. OSBEELS has not yet made this change widely known and has indicated that they will accept applications postmarked by January 15, 2008. I suggest that you move ahead with your application as though the deadline is December 1st.]

The ASCE Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL) is in Las Vegas, NV on Fri-Sat February 8-9, 2008. This is a great chance for students interested in being an ASCE officer next year (starting Spring term 2008) to get some leadership training, learn more about ASCE national, and have fun meeting professionals and students from all over the West coast and the country. Costs for travel and lodging and some meals will be covered by the ASCE student chapter. If interested, please contact our current president, Kyle Taniguchi (taniguck@onid.orst.edu), or faculty advisor Tom Miller (thomas.miller@oregonstate.edu) before finals week.

PLEASE WELCOME FRANK SHERKOW, our new CE Outreach Director. Frank brings years of entrepreneurial spirit to OSU, as well as great experience working with academia from the industrial side. Frank will jump right into his new role, helping out at the Beaver Open House on Saturday. Swing by his office in 342 Owen and say hi!

A WARM WELCOME BACK – to Patty Williams, who is currently the office manager for Hoffman Construction during the Apperson Renovation. Patty, who retired in 2001 from CCEE, has a temporary office in 111 Merryfield Hall and will be a frequent visitor in Owen Hall.
