CALENDAR

NOVEMBER 7 – Graduate Student Forum, 6:00 pm, 102 Owen Hall. Short presentations from each CCE discipline presented for those considering graduate school. Food and drinks provided.

NOVEMBER 9 – Dad’s Weekend

NOVEMBER 10, Saturday - O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory OPEN HOUSE between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Tours last about 30 minutes and include an over view of engineering and models, and demonstrations of tsunami and hurricane waves. Tours start every 20 minutes.

NOVEMBER 8, Thursday – ‘Pipeline to the Future’ webcast. Critical success factors in attracting, developing, and retaining future water quality leaders. Hosted at the CH2M HILL Portland office (2020 SW 4th Avenue). Lunch provided to those who RSVP by November 7, to Dan Garbely at dgarbely@ch2m.com.

ITE TRAFFIC BOWL – held at McMenamins in Troutdale on the evening of November15. Our ITE Student Chapter will organize transportation and accommodations. You are encouraged to simply attend the social event or join our OSU team (Go Beavs!) for the Jeopardy-style game of traffic knowledge while enjoying the casual social opportunities with professionals. STUDENT CHAPTERS

NOVEMBER 6, Tuesday – AGC Speaker Meeting, 6:00 pm, 103 Owen Hall. Presentation by Federal Highway Administration, Western Federal Land Highway Division (highway construction and highway improvement in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska). Internships available for CEM and CE freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Food and sodas provided. 

NOVEMBER 7, Wednesday - ACSM Speaker Meeting, 5:00 pm, 110 Owen Hall. Presentation from Bret Hazell with the Eugene firm 3D I West, on softcopy photogrammetry, othophotographs, digital aerial cameras and applications in GIS. Pizza and beverage provided.

NOVEMBER 7– SWE/SHPE/NSBE are hosting a dinner with XEROX, 6:00 pm in Kelley 1003. Now that you’ve been to the career fair, have you ever wondered how to negotiate for a top salary? How you can gain individual recognition when working with a team? Meet professionals from XEROX and find out what they say. Also, if you are looking for a summer job, or a permanent position, this evening is for you! Local Boys food will be provided.

NOVEMBER 8, Thursday - ASCE Speaker Meeting, 6:00 pm, 102 Owen Hall. Maple Brook Engineering will present on design using Structural Insulated Panels. Food and drinks will be provided.

NOVEMBER 8 - AGC Speaker Meeting, 6:00 pm, 103 Owen Hall. Presentation by Sierra Nevada Construction, Reno, NV (heavy/civil contractor). Food and sodas provided. 

NOVEMBER 13, Tuesday - ASCE Speaker Meeting, 6:00 pm, 102 Owen Hall. Presentation by current civil engineering students on the benefits of seeking summer internships. Student presenters will share their personal internship experiences and answer any questions students may have. Food and drinks provided.

INTERVIEWS

NOVEMBER 6, Tuesday – CEM and CE students, full-time and internships. Walsh Construction (commercial and residential construction). You may sign-up for interviews with Jan Strombeck, 220 Owen.

NOVEMBER 7, Wednesday - CEM and CE student internships with the Federal Highway Administration, Western Federal Land Highway Division. You may sign-up for interviews at the AGC Informational Meeting on Tuesday, 11/6, 103 Owen Hall. Interviews will be held in 324 Owen. Additional job information here.

NOVEMBER 9, Friday - CEM students, full-time and internships with Sierra Nevada Construction Co., Reno, Nevada. SNC is a heavy-civil contractor whose work includes site development; asphalt paving, reconstruction and maintenance and other specialty services throughout Nevada and California.
