SEPTEMBER 27, Thursday – “Twin Oaks Design-Build Project in San Diego,” presented by Sue Frey, PE, SE, of CH2M-Hill. Fall Kick-Off Seminar sponsored by the ASCE Student Chapter. 124 Gilbert Hall, 4:00 pm. All are invited to attend.

PEER MENTORS NEEDED for CE 201 - Strong AutoCAD and Civil3D skills required. Must attend class section. Need coverage for T/TH noon section. For more info see Tracy Arras, arrast@engr.orst.edu.
WAVE RESEARCH LAB - will install a wave-maker that simulates waves generated by hurricanes and storm surges, the nations largest when it's completed late next year. Researchers including Rakesh Gupta, an OSU associate professor of wood science and engineering are also testing at WRL to examine the impact of hurricanes on a scale model of a two-story wood-frame condominium building; the first step toward designing homes that could better survive storm surges and hurricanes. CCE SCHOOL HEAD, Scott Ashford – is “Shaking up a New School,” in the latest issue of Update, the Research Office Newsletter.
CONGRATULATIONS – to Kathy Westberg, recipient of the Professional Faculty Award presented at the annual college-wide Engineering Fall Breakfast last week. Kathy was honored for her untiring support of students, faculty and staff. Both plaque and monetary award were presented by Dean Ron Adams.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Want Free Pizza and a Tee-shirt? Volunteers needed for Wave Research Laboratory and Tsunami Wave Basin Open House. We need greeters and tours guides for our Dads Weekend Open House, November 10, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. No experience needed, we will train you and it will be lots of fun. Two hour minimum commitment! GRADUATING SENIORS (Fall 2007 - Fall 2008) - If you are planning to graduate this year please fill out an application for graduation now. Applications are at the Registrar's Office or we have a limited supply in 220 Owen Hall. Questions - contact sandy.jameson@oregonstate.edu. You are encouraged to apply for graduation THREE TERMS in ADVANCE and meet with your advisor OFTEN to verify degree requirements are met.

5th Annual TransNow Student Conference (of, for and by students!) is November 16, 2007 at Portland State University. Student registration is free! The ITE Student Chapter will arrange transportation for students who would like to participate.
