MAY 28, Monday – MEMORIAL DAY is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. At 3:00 pm, pause for a moment of silence. No classes. Please enjoy a safe weekend.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
--------------------
Two OSU wood bridges were entered to the 2007 National Timber Bridge Design Competition, submitted as part of Dr. Rakesh Gupta's wood design course; one from the 2006 class and one from 2007 class. The 2006 bridge placed second in the following three categories; Best Overall Design, Best Support Structure, and Most Practical Design, winning $900 in prize money. The 2007 bridge won second place in Most Aesthetic Design, winning $200 in prize money. Together the two groups won $1100 which will go to support the ASCE student chapter at OSU. Congratulations to both winning bridge teams. Detailed results at here.

MAY 21, Monday - Engineers Without Borders, “The UN: Introduction and Opportunities for Involvement,” presented by Professor Mary Pettenger, Western Oregon University , Political Science Department. 5:00-6:00 pm, KEC 1007
HELP REBUILD WILDCAT PARK - Great hands-on community service opportunity to help rebuild Wilson Elementary playground. The playground was removed a few years ago due to deterioration and safety concerns and now they are rebuilding a new one. Wilson Elementary is located near Timberhill and Winco. We will get a group together Saturday, June 2nd from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Sign up with Cindy Olson in 220 Owen Hall. To volunteer you do not need to have any skills, nor do you need to bring any tools. Food and snacks provided for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer but are not available on this day, write available date & times and we can arrange something.
