ORDER OF THE ENGINEER - Graduation is quickly approaching! This means that you should consider participating in the Order of the Engineer ceremony on June 16. This is a pledge, taken by graduating engineering students, to uphold the standards and dignity of the engineering profession and to serve humanity. As part of the process you will be given a steel ring to wear to remind you of your obligation to society. Ring sizing takes place April 30 - May 2, and again May 7-9 in the Owen Hall Atrium between 1:00-4:00 pm. Cost is $20. All ABET-accredited engineering majors are eligible to participate. Contact Sean Clark (seandrafts@hotmail.com) or Juan Hernandez (hernanju@engr.orst.edu) for additional details. More information can be found at http://www.order-of-the-engineer.org/.
MAY 1-10 - NATIONAL WORK ZONE MEMORIAL WALL is on display at Portland 's Lloyd Center . The wall, called Respect and Remembrance: Reflections of Life on the Road, is a traveling memorial to people who have died while working or traveling through work zones. Among the hundreds of names on the wall are more than 50 people killed in Oregon work zone crashes from 1939 to present. Highway work is one of the most dangerous occupations in the nation. But in fact, drivers and passengers are more likely to be killed or seriously injured in a work zone crash.
