Construction Awards

  • Loyd Carter Award - This annual award by the OSU College of Engineering is reserved for "Outstanding and Inspirational Teaching." In 2004, Construction Education Foundation Chair Greg Baker received this award from Dean Ron Adams at the annual College of Engineering Fall Kickoff Breakfast. This year marked the second year in a row that the Loyd Carter Award has been presented to a CEM faculty member, with John Gambatese winning the award in 2003.

  • Golden Beaver Award - Harold D. "Hal" Pritchett, professor emeritus of OSU's Construction Engineering Management (CEM) program, received one of the highest honors bestowed on U.S. engineers when he accepted the Golden Beaver Award at a Los Angeles awards ceremony on January 17, 2003. During his 45 years of involvement with the OSU College of Engineering, Pritchett has prepared more than a thousand students for construction careers, and hundreds of these individuals have risen to executive positions in large firms or formed their own contracting companies. Pritchett was instrumental in founding the CEM Program at OSU which is regarded as one of the nation's premier programs and boasts a 100 percent placement record of its 1,200 graduates since it was started in 1969.

  • Dennis Marker Teacher of the Year - This award for faculty teaching excellence in the OSU CEM program is presented annually by the Oregon State University AGC Student Chapter. The most recent recipients are listed below:
